Chocolate recalled after plastic was found in the product

Attention, chocolate lovers: A company recalls some of its chocolate products after a consumer found pieces of plastic in the treat.

In a recall notice posted on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration website, Lake Champlain Chocolates (LCC) said it was recalling certain chocolate products “after a consumer reported finding crisp plastic pieces in a final product.”

“After initial investigations and out of an abundance of caution, LCC voluntarily recalls all possible affected products currently on the market from July 2020 to January 2021,” the company said, although noting that there were no adverse health events related to the revocation reported is not like this time.

The products involved include:

  • Hazelnut Five Star Bar

  • Fruit and Fruit Bar

  • Amandel Vyfster Bar

  • Granola Vyfster Bar

  • Organic milk chocolate bar with sea salt and almonds

  • Milk Chocolate Almond Base

  • Vermont Green Mountain Chocolate

‘These products can be found in a variety of other gift packs, boxes and baskets. Please refer to the document at the end of this release for a detailed list of all relevant products and associated Best By Dates, ‘according to the recall notice, noting that the products are distributed across the country.

Those in possession of a recalled product are asked to “throw it away” immediately.
