Chief McManus says about the shooting at a church event that the young boy, the man, was injured

SAN ANTONIO According to San Antonio police, a six-year-old boy was injured and another man was in critical condition.

The shooting took place Sunday afternoon in the 1000 block of WW White and Martin Luther King Drive.

Chief McManus said an event was underway at the Greater Faith Institutional Church when a 24/25-year-old man, his girlfriend and his son were in their vehicle and pulled into the church’s parking lot.

It was then that a man hiding under a tree approached the vehicle, pulled out a gun and fired, police said. The six-year-old boy was shot in the shoulder, according to McManus, but it is expected to be good.

The man in the vehicle, whose identity has not yet been released, was shot and critically injured.

McManus said the shooting was aimed at the man in the vehicle and that it was not random.

The department is still following the clues to track down the suspect and McManus said he hopes to close the case sooner rather than later.

‘All the violence throughout this city runs across the line, but if you do it during a church service, it’s pretty unheard of. We are not going to stop anything from catching that individual, ”McManus said. “It’s uncomfortable for insanity that someone on a Sunday afternoon would be brave enough to do that during a church service.”
