Chicago police officers discovered seven children in an empty apartment unit Friday afternoon when they were called to a wellness check in a building in Humboldt Park.
At about 15:50 in the 700 block of North Trumbull, officers arrived on the scene and contacted a witness who advised that someone was in an apartment unit on the first floor that would otherwise be empty.
Officers found seven children: a 14-year-old girl, an 11-year-old boy, a 7-year-old boy, a 6-year-old girl, a 5-year-old boy, a 4-year-old girl and a baby of 23 months.
Police brought all the children to AMITA Health Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center and said they were in good condition.
A 31-year-old woman was questioned by detectives Friday night.
