Celebrities were ‘really mean’ to ‘American Idol’

Kelly Clarkson did not have the easiest transition to fame, but Jennifer Love Hewitt was a big help.

Clarkson, 38, thanked Hewitt, 41, for her kind words during her time on ‘American Idol’ in 2002 on Thursday’s episode of ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’.

‘You probably can not remember, but it stuck with me [for] so long, now almost 20 years, ”begins Clarkson. ‘But right after that – you have no idea I’m going to say it and you probably will not remember it – but it was at some kind of MTV Awards or something or VMAs or something, I do not know what it was, but you ran to me. And that was right when I, like the last three, think of ‘Idol’, and we were just hacked and everything happened like in a whirlwind and people like were really mean to us, because we come from a talent show and it was the first season. ”

She continued, ‘Like that everyone was so rude to us, like on the mat, like at the show … it was so bad. It was a horrible experience and you came to me and ran down on me out of nowhere and like, ‘Oh woe! I really root for you! ”

“You said to me, ‘Please keep those you love so close, and unfortunately it’s going to affect a few people in your life, but this business can be very difficult. And just remember to like the people who really love you ‘- and you just gave me this advice that was really, very kind in such a … unfriendly time for me personally,’ Clarkson said while Hewitt smiled and added: ‘So, thank you so much, it meant the world to me. You were so kind. ”

Clarkson opened up to Demi Lovato earlier about her battle with fame, telling her in a June issue of her program: ‘It’s not always easy to focus on you and arrows aimed at you, especially if you is defenseless and people give more ammunition to all the trolls out there. ”
