Capitol Police Increase Conspiracy Theory Security on March 4

U.S. Capitol police on Tuesday announced plans to bolster security personnel this week over a conspiracy theory regarding former President Trump.

What they say: “The department is aware of information and intelligence regarding March 4 and continues to work with all our law enforcement partners,” tweeted the agency, adding that it “communicated our improved attitude as well as the available intelligence for the entire workforce.”

Why it matters: Washington, DC remains on point after the deadly January 6 uprising.

  • QAnon conspirators have filed the unfounded allegation that March 4 is the date of Trump’s true inauguration. This is based on the fact that presidents were inaugurated on March 4, 1933.

For the record: In mid-February, Capitol police requested that nearly 5,000 National Guard troops remain in Washington by March 12.
