Zombies have been slowly infiltrating Verdansk since the Vodianoy cargo ship washed ashore at the beginning of season 2, but now they are starting to spread. In Call of Duty: Warzone‘s latest patch, zombies have moved from the shipwreck to the prison in the southeastern part of the map.
Just like the infection outbreak at the ship, players can visit the prison to cause a zombie killing event that gives access to extra loot. If a player activates the zombie terminal in the prison, they must kill 40 zombies within a short period of time, while also having to fight with other players. Once all the zombies are dead, a key card will fall giving players access to a special outdoor locker that gives better weapons and a legendary gas mask.
Although it is clear that the zombie infestation is spreading across Verdansk, it is not yet clear how far they will get on the map. For now, the zombies have only been able to cover a little ground, but it’s possible that developer Raven Software could spread the infection faster and faster, War zone season continues. In Raven’s official blog post about the event, there is a small counter that says 5%, although it is not clear what exactly it counts.
