Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War and Warzone Get new maps, more, in major update

New weapons, maps, modes, a new Zombies map and more are added to Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War and Warzone as the first season updates continue to appear in the games. the game features a new nearby weapon, a new multiplayer map, and two new maps for PlayStation-exclusive Onslaught mode. There are also new modes for multiplayer and Zombies, and free access to the Zombies mode until January 21st.

The second part of this Season One update will launch on February 4th when a fan-favorite “Express” card from Call of Duty: Black Ops II returns to multiplayer and when the new Zombies card is added.Specifically, today’s update brings the ‘Wakizashi’ katana-like nearby weapon to the game as an in-game challenge that can be unlocked and a blueprint available for sale in the new Disavowed Assassin bundle in store, as well as the ‘Sanatorium’ multiplayer map, which sees ten groups of four “to the Ural Plains to fight over targets and vehicles on land, sea and air.”

‘Dropkick’ is the new mode that joins the fight today and Treyarch describes it as a ‘wild game with hot potato’ that features two teams fighting for control of a very important briefcase.

On the Zombies side, ‘Cranked’ is a new game mode available today, and it sees players fighting zombies while chasing a clock that requires them to kill at least one undead enemy within a certain time period . This mode is free for those who own Black Ops Cold War, and it’s free for everyone to try, as the game’s entire Zombies mode is free until January 21st.

The PlayStation-exclusive “Onslaught” mode today has a new map called Raid available, which takes place in a mansion in Los Angeles overrun with hordes of zombies. On January 21st, operator Zeyna, shown below, will be added to the game as part of a new store bundle and on February 4th, the other half of this Season One update will be launched.

This February 4 update will add ‘Express’, a map of Black Ops II, to the game as a 6v6 multiplayer map with two trains running around the main hall of a transport hub. Express will also be offered the same day as a ticket for Onslaught.

February 4 is also the addition of the game’s latest zombie card, “Firebase Z”, which according to Treyarch is the next chapter of the Black Ops Cold War Zombies story.

Elsewhere in Season One, a Double Weapon XP weekend takes place from January 15 to January 19, 3v3 Face-Off will continue as a playlist with 3v3 Team Deathmatch, Kill Confirmed and Dominance on various Gunfight cards, and Snipers Only Moshpit and Endurance Mode will appear as playable modes during the season.
