Buzz Brewing That Governor Andrew Cuomo Might OK to Open Five Boroughs – Deadline

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said Monday that movie theaters in the city will be aligned with the rest of New York State from March 5, which will be allowed to reopen at 25% with no more than 50 people per screen, masks, social distance and other protocols.

These include air filtration and purification standards previously specified by the DOJ. Officials at the governor’s press briefing said no Covid-19 testing is needed, as is the case for large areas such as Madison Square Garden and Barclay’s Center that could reopen later in February. The theaters in New York City follow the same clues that were introduced in the rest of New York State in October. Keeping the state and one of the country’s two largest film markets dark for almost a full year has paralyzed the international schedule for theatrical release.
