Britt Reid is no longer in the Chiefs’ coaching staff

Britt Reid is no longer a member of the Kansas City Chiefs coaching staff.

The 35-year-old son of Chiefs coach Andy Reid has been placed on leave during his contract, which has since expired, meaning he is no longer an employee of the club. ESPN reported on Wednesday.

The Chiefs announced Tuesday that Britt Reid has been placed on administrative leave during an investigation into a traffic accident in which two young children were injured, one criticism.

Britt Reid was involved in a multi-vehicle accident near the team’s training facility next to Arrowhead Stadium on Thursday. He did not travel to the Super Bowl in Tampa Bay in which the Chiefs lost 31-9.

According to a warrant filed late Thursday night, he told police he “had two or three drinks” and had a prescription for Adderall. Police said they are investigating whether Reid, who has a previous conviction of drunk driving on his record, was affected before the accident.

The NFL is investigating whether Reid violated the league’s personal behavior policy.

Ariel Young (5) has been identified by the Chiefs as the girl in the crash, and she remains in critical condition as of Tuesday. The team also said they reached out to her family and provided support and resources.

Kansas City police said the crash happened just after 9 p.m. Thursday when a truck hit two vehicles on the side of a highway entrance. They also said a report on the investigation would be issued within 30 to 60 days.

After the loss of the Chiefs Sunday in the Suoer Bowl, Andy Reid spoke on the issue for the first time.

“My heart goes out to those involved, the families of the girls who are fighting for their lives,” Reid said. “From a human point of view, my heart bleeds for them.”

Thursday’s accident was not the first time the family has hit Andy Reid’s tragedy.

His son, Garrett, died at the age of 29 from an accidental overdose of drugs during Eagles training camp in 2012. Britt was sentenced in 2007 to 8 to 23 months in prison plus a five-month probation period on gun and drug charges.
