Britain’s Prince Philip will remain in hospital this weekend

LONDON (AP) – British Prince Philip is expected to remain in a London hospital for a few more days after being admitted earlier this week in what Buckingham Palace describes as a precautionary measure.

The 99-year-old husband of Queen Elizabeth II remained in the private King Edward VII Hospital on Friday, where he was admitted on Tuesday night.

According to the palace, Philip was admitted on the advice of his doctor, and he is expected to stay the weekend until next week for observation and rest.

It is not believed that Philip’s disease is related to COVID-19. Both the queen (94) and Philip received a first dose of coronavirus vaccine in early January.

Philip walked helplessly into the hospital after arriving by car, and the palace said he had been admitted ‘out of an abundance of caution’.

Philip, who retired from public duty in 2017, rarely appears in public. His most recent public event was a military ceremony at Buckingham Palace in July.

During England’s current exclusion of the coronavirus, the Duke of Windsor Castle, west of London, stayed with the Queen, performing duties such as meetings with dignitaries at a distance.

The royal household plans to celebrate celebrations in celebration of Philip’s hundredth birthday on June 10, with restrictions that may be allowed.

Philip married the then Princess Elizabeth in 1947 and is the longest-serving royal wife in British history. He and the queen have four children, eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Philip last enchanted in a hospital when he spent four nights in King Edward VII in December 2019, where he was treated to an ‘existing condition’ and discharged on Christmas Eve.
