Boulder man who joined Dr. Moma clinic vaccinated, shares concerns about revaccination process

BOULDER, Colo. – A few days after the Department of Public Health and Environment in Colorado (CDPHE) said thousands who are vaccinated at a clinic in Colorado Springs need to be vaccinated again. Some of those affected are concerned about the possible consequences of receiving additional doses.

“I just hate being in the position where you’re waiting for someone to acknowledge what’s going on and to give you the answers you’re looking for,” said Chris Nyce, a Boulder resident, giving his first dose of Moderna- vaccine received. in March in the Dr. Moma Health and Wellness Clinic in Colorado Springs.

CDPHE authorized the clinic to offer COVID-19 vaccines, but on April 9, the state said it would be discontinued while they investigated.

CDPHE said on Tuesday that improper storage at dr. Moma means nearly 4,000 people have to be vaccinated again.

According to state guidelines, those who received one dose in the clinic should receive two additional doses. Those who have received two doses in the clinic should receive one extra dose.

“I’m worried about getting this third shot because no one knows what happens when you get a third shot,” Nyce said.

His worries forced him to contact the manufacturer, Moderna.

“In the conversations I had with them, Moderna said, ‘We do not recommend that you get a third shot,'” Nyce said.

Denver7 has released both CDPHE and Moderna for more clarity on the difference, but has yet to hear.

CDPHE’s press release stated that they had consulted the CDC to publish vaccination guidelines and: “Due to a lack of clinical data, the CDC does not recommend that people receive more than three doses of any COVID-19 vaccine, regardless of the validity.”

Nyce said he was concerned that a third dose of vaccine would have an impact on his ability to get a shot in the future.

On Thursday, dr. David Kessler of the Biden administration said the country needs to be prepared for vaccine boosters.

“Did they prevent us from ever having a booster shot because they tell us to get a third vaccine? I do not know,” Nyce said.

Denver7 will update this story with additional information when it becomes available.
