Elected President Joe Biden said Friday that Sens. Ted Cruz, R-Texas and Josh Hawley, R-Mo., Should be ‘knocked down’ in their next election for their part in spreading ‘the big lie’, a term the senators said it was an attempt to to present them as Nazis.
“I think they should just be flattened next time they’re going,” Biden said in comments Friday when asked if the few senators should resign. Other Democrats called on Cruz to relinquish his seat.
Biden said Republicans like Cruz and Hawley form a minority of the party.
“The American public looks very closely at who they are,” Biden said. “They’re part of the big lie, the big lie.”
‘The Big Lie’ was a term coined in Nazi Germany. “If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually believe it,” Joseph Goebbels, Reichs Minister of Propaganda of Nazi Germany, once said.

“Really sad,” Cruz wrote on Twitter of Biden’s remarks. “In a time of deep national division, the choice of President Biden’s choice is to call his political opponents literal Nazis, to bring us together or to promote healing.”
“This kind of evil partisan rhetoric is just tearing our country apart,” he continued.
Hawley fired back with his own statement.
“Elected President Biden has just compared me and another Republican Senator to Nazis. You read that right. Think about it a little. Let it sink in. Because I raised questions in the format prescribed by United States laws about the way elections were held in the state of Pennsylvania, just as the Democrats did over other states in 2001, 2005 and 2017, he calls me a Nazi, ‘Hawley state.
The senator of the first term further referred to the elect’s remarks as “unworthy, immature and immoral conduct”.
Hawley then advised Biden. “He must act like a worthy adult and withdraw these sick comments. And every Democratic member of Congress must be asked to reject these disgusting comments.”
Cruz and Hawley led to attempts to contest the results of the election college for Biden in the upper chamber. Cruz called for a ten-day state of emergency audit of allegations of voter fraud, although such cases have been settled in federal court. Both continued their call to reject the certification of the results, even after a pro-Trump uprising that hid lawmakers and left five dead caused others to withdraw their disputes.

The president-elect said the few senators were “just as responsible” as the president for squandering fraudulent claims about squandering.
‘If he is [Trump] the only thing it says, it’s one thing, but the acolytes who follow him, like Cruz and others, are just as responsible as he is, “Biden continued.” And so it’s not about whether they’re accused. It’s about whether or not they continue to hold power because of the disgust the American people have for their actions. There are decent people who believe these lies. ‘
The longtime Democrat nonetheless praised other Republican lawmakers for breaking up with Trump over claims for election fraud.
“I was so proud,” Biden said of the Sen.’s leader. Mitch McConnell of Kentucky. “What he said on the floor of the US Senate was, in fact, the right thing to do.” McConnell urged his GOP colleagues not to object to the vote to confirm the results of the election college, saying it would damage our republic forever.
Biden said he had “enormous respect” for Senator Mitt Romney, R-Utah, whom he faced in 2012 when Romeny was the presidential candidate of the GOP and Biden reappeared as vice president with President Obama sought. He said Romney had “enormous integrity” in resisting the president and his election fraud.
“There are many more, but there are others who should be ashamed of themselves. But they form a minority of the Republican Party,” Biden continued.
