District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr., Manhattan, a longtime enemy of former President Donald Trump, is not going to run again until a fourth term in 2022, as a long list of left-wing candidates are vying to take his place.
“When I applied for this position in 2009, I said that the responsibilities of a district attorney should go beyond convictions in court, and that a 21st century prosecutor should do so for our legal system and moving our community forward, “said Vance, 66. a statement Friday.

Vance’s office stated in a press release its focus on justice reform, saying it had reduced overall prosecution by 58% and instituted programs for implicit prejudice review and equity and social justice.
Vance’s office also boasts of Trump v. Vance, in which the Supreme Court ruled that Trump is not immune to a Vance subpoena over his financial and tax records, and People v. Weinstein, which led to the downfall of entertainment mogul Harvey Weinstein.

“For decades, I have never presented myself as a district attorney like my predecessors,” Vance said in a statement. “I never considered it my last job, even though it is the best job and greatest honor I will ever have. I said twelve years ago that change is fundamentally good and essential for any institution. After these lasting consequences in our “Our public policy and our ability to be criminal has taken the time to pave the way for new leadership at the DA office in Manhattan.”

Vance is a Democrat, and the race to replace him is already dealing with radical change, as candidates accept a substantial reform of sentences, promising not to prosecute a number of low-level offenders and plans for ‘ to configure.
