Asian woman stabbed to death during attack in California

An Asian woman was fatally stabbed while walking her dogs in California in what police call a random attack.

Ke Chieh Meng, 64, was out in Riverside with her two little ones around 7:30 a.m. Saturday when she stabbed and left on the ground, KTLA-TV reported.

Officers who responded to the scene found her on the ground and transported Meng to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead, according to the station.

Meng’s alleged attacker, Darlene Stephanie Montoya, 23, was identified by police as passing. She was arrested near the scene and charged in what police described as a “completely random” attack.

“There was nothing to indicate that the victim was attacked because of her ethnicity,” Riverside Police Department spokesman Ryan Railsback told The Post on Sunday.

‘We will try to investigate [the suspect’s] the history of drug abuse and her history of mental health, ”Railsback said, adding that police still” do not lock the door for anything. “

Montoya was booked into the Robert Presley detention center on a charge of murder and also accused of being under the influence of a controlled drug and being held without bail, CNN reported.

Montoya was last arrested on March 30 and charged with assault with a deadly weapon after allegedly attacking a woman with a skateboard near a local mall, but was released without bail due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Railsback said the victim was a white woman in that case.
