Antonio Brown ran a wrong route on the Super Bowl LV attack, Bucs coach says

Antonio Brown did just enough on Sunday to influence Super Bowl LV in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers victory over the Kansas City Chiefs.

Brown gets an attack on a pass from Tom Brady with 6 seconds left to set up Tampa Bay 21-6. Tampa Bay coach Clyde Christensen revealed on Monday that the route Brown took was not exactly what he needed to do.

“AB on his touchdown catch was supposed to go down and in and then jump out again. He goes out and jumps in again,” Christensen said on ‘The Pat McAfee Show’. “I kind of go through the headset like ‘did he run the right route? Did he just do the opposite of what he had to do, and we touched it to touch?’ That was the case. ‘

Brady does not look stunned by the play and finds the wide receiver for the touch, and this is what impressed Christensen most.

“And this is where Brady does not get a loop,” Christensen said. “He’s just hitting the man.” Hey, you’re going to open up, I’ll hit you. “This is where he is unique. A lot of quarterbacks are like ‘hey, he’s supposed to do that. A to B to C. ‘ This guy, AB, goes C to F back to A and he just beats him for a touch. It was amazing. ‘

Brown and Brady connected five times for 22 yards in the game.

Tampa Bay signed Brown in the middle of the season while suspended for eight games for violating the league’s policy on personal conduct due to allegations of rape and sexual assault by a former personal trainer and an arrest for an incident with a truck driver.
