Annapurna’s recursive puzzle adventure Maquette gets March release date • Eurogamer.net

Launch on PS4, PS5 and Steam.

Maquette, the beautiful “recursive” first-person puzzle adventure from developer Graceful Decay, finally has a release date and will hit PlayStation and PC on March 2nd.

A makiet, if you are wondering, is a small preliminary model made by a sculptor before embarking on a full-scale project. It’s a fitting moniker for a game that features model-like environments placed in larger versions of themselves – which in turn are larger-scale versions – and where changes made to one model are reflected in everyone.

For example, dropping a cube on a courtyard model (to use an example in the latest trailer below) can allow a larger version of the cube to be realized simultaneously in the courtyard around the model, which may provide a way to progress.

Annapurna Interactive – the publisher behind awards such as Outer Wilds, What Remains of Edith Finch, I Am Dead, and now it – describes Maquette even more succinctly as ‘a unique puzzle game about exploring relationships in a recursive world’.

The spatial mysteries intertwine with a story of ‘love, loss and acceptance’ focusing on Kenzie and Michael, a fictional couple looking back on their relationship, played by Bryce Dallas Howard (Jurassic World, Black Mirror) and Seth Gabel (Fringe , Nip / Tuck) respectively.

Maquette will cost $ 19.99 USD (about £ 15) early next month, on March 2, when it comes to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Steam.
