Animal Crossing’s Mario Update lets you recreate the Mushroom Kingdom

If you itch to add Super Mario Bros. items to your island in Animal crossing: new horizons since they were teased last month, the wait is almost over. Nintendo is adding a proud treat based on the adventures of its plump plumber and its pals as part of a February 25 update.

The bonanza features clothing, from Mario and Princess Peach outfits to Wario’s yellow and purple drops, and furniture ranging from super mushrooms to chain pipes that can be used to travel through your archipelago. You can see the full wealth of valuable items in the store in the video below, which was part of yesterday’s Nintendo Direct festival. Eagle-eyed Mario fans should also be able to search the clip for coins, shells, stars, fireflies, question blocks, goal posts and mushroom platforms. There are enough collectibles to help you recreate the Mushroom Kingdom.

Once you have downloaded the update, the new items will be available via Nook Shopping as usual, in this case from 1 March. Nintendo has been regularly updating its tranquil island life sim since its launch last spring, with previous additions including haunting items for Halloween and a Carnival-themed gripper bag late last month.

If you missed yesterday’s action-packed Direct, we’ve got you covered. Look at our distribution of the main liners (including a Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword remaster en Splatoon 3), plus other notable game announcements spanning a new Mario Golf, the latest Super Smash Bros. Ultimate fighters, and viral hit Val guys.
