American Idol alumni Kat Luna and Alex Garrido tie the knot in Tennessee: “We’ve been talking about this day for a short time after our meeting.”
American Idol alums Kat Luna and Alex Garrido untied the knot during an intimate wedding in Tennessee on Friday.
The couple, who were best known for their time in season 18 of the longtime singing competition series, made people official during a ceremony in a barn, according to People.
The setting of the event was not typical of a Miami couple, but 21-year-old Luna apparently wanted her wedding to stand out from the crowd in terms of location and overall feel.

The singer told the publication: ‘We both always dreamed of having a barn wedding. Most couples who come from Miami usually go for a beach wedding, but we have always had a different idea of what our dream wedding should look like. ‘
She also remarked, “We’ve been talking about this day for some time after our meeting.”
The 27-year-old Garrido’s uncle held the ceremony, where the two singers apparently came forward with their respective vows.
Although the event took place in the midst of a global pandemic, the country singers especially took care to protect their guests from any possible exposure to COVID-19, as there was a social protocol for the wedding and reception.
Do it their way: Luna said that while most Miami couples would like a beach wedding or something similar, she and her husband, who are now, ‘always had a different idea’ about how they want that their ceremony must happen
The two also kept their guest list relatively small to make sure everyone attending could enjoy the evening safely.
“COVID hasn’t really changed our plans that much … we’ve already had an intimate wedding idea with a reduced guest list and an outside room shed,” Luna said.
After the ceremony, the reception was made all the more special by Garrido, who wrote and performed a special song for his now-wife.
Do not take chances: The couple made sure that security protocols were in place during their wedding so that their guests would have the best possible time under the circumstances of the global pandemic.
Guests who feel like dancing during the celebration were allowed to do so as the now married couple made arrangements to let their friends and family move in a safe manner.
The country addict also keeps his plans under control after the wedding, as he wants to ensure that his new wife gets the most excitement wherever they are going.
Garrido said, “Cat does not really know where we are going … I surprise her with a honeymoon!”

The two first came into the spotlight during their audition for American Idol, where their ability as a duo led them to advance to the second round of auditions.
During their next appearance, the judges were impressed by Luna’s dramatic singing, but Garrido’s performance was apparently not skilled enough, and his then girlfriend was made alone to advance to the next round.
In her final round, Luna always performed Lady Gaga’s Always Remember Us This Way, after which the judges apparently did not pay attention because they eliminated her afterwards.
After both artists left the program, they signed an edition deal as a musical duo.
