All Santa Clara County residents 65 and older can be vaccinated – NBC Bay Area

Santa Clara County officials on Thursday announced that residents 65 and older in the province could be vaccinated against COVID-19, regardless of their insurance or health care provider.

The “no wrong door” strategy has been put in place to ensure that residents of the province most vulnerable to the virus get a vaccine as quickly and as easily as possible.

“The complex distribution and allocation system of the state, combined with vaccine shortages, has led to an unequal explosion of vaccines in the country, depending on where people get their medical care,” said Dr. Jeff Smith, provincial executive, said. “The ‘no wrong door’ approach we apply is aimed at getting available vaccines into our arms as quickly and fairly as possible to save lives.”

According to the province, 81% of COVID-19 deaths in the country were people aged 65 and older.

“We must prioritize vaccinating those who are most at risk for death or serious illness,” said the provincial health official, Dr. Sara Cody, said in a statement. ‘We are eager to vaccinate a much wider section of the population and are ready to do so as soon as vaccine supplies allow. ‘

Residents of the province are encouraged to visit sccfreevax.org to make vaccinations for vaccines.
