The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on Thursday unveiled the 366 feature films eligible for the 93rd Oscars, which will be broadcast live on ABC on April 25.
The total number of films is higher than last year’s 344 films.
This year’s list was compiled based on custom rules that could be applied due to the coronavirus pandemic, which propelled the ceremony to its latest date ever. For this year, feature films had to be opened in a commercial movie theater by Feb. 28 for a qualifying seven-day series in at least one of six metro areas: Los Angeles County, New York, the Bay Area, Chicago, Miami and Atlanta. Drive-in theaters that are open every night are included as qualifying venues, as well as films intended for theater release, but due to the exclusion that was first made available via streaming, VOD service or other broadcast.

Today’s news comes after the Academy dropped its shortlists in the categories International Film, Documentary Feature, Original Score, Original Song, Makeup & Hairstyling, Visual Effects and the Live-Action, Documentary and Animated Shorts on 9 February.
With today’s list completed, the Academy vote will take place March 5-10, with nominations to be announced on March 15th.
