Detective Myles Cosgrove was fired Tuesday for using lethal force to fire 16 rounds in Taylor’s home and not activating his body camera, a copy of his termination letter reads.
Detective Joshua Jaynes, who wrote the warrant for the raid on Taylor’s home, was also fired Tuesday for failing to complete a form for a search warrant operation plan and for failing to confirm that Taylor’s ex-boyfriend, Jamarcus Glover, received packages. according to a copy of his termination letter obtained by CNN at Taylor’s home.
Cosgrove and Jaynes could appeal against the dismissal, which would review the LMPD merit board and eventually lead to a public hearing.
CNN reached out to their attorneys as well as the Fraternal Order of Police.
Cameron said Cosgrove fired the fatal shot – which he said was justified because Taylor’s boyfriend first shot at officers.
