3 men arrested in Goleta in connection with Carpinteria robbery | Local news

Three men in Arizona were arrested in Goleta on Thursday in connection with a robbery that took place a few hours earlier in Carpinteria, according to the Sheriff’s Office in Santa Barbara County.

Deputies were sent to the Chevron gas station at Via Real and Santa Monica Road in Carpinteria at about 5:40 a.m. after a woman reported being robbed by her companions, sheriff’s public information officer Raquel Zick said.

The woman was apparently in a vehicle with three men when she was robbed by them. They left her behind and fled the scene, Zick said.

About three hours later, a vigilante citizen who heard about the robbery sent to the sheriff’s dispatch that the suspect vehicle, which apparently had a flat tire, was at a tire shop in the 200 block of South Fairview Avenue. Zick said.

Delegates gathered in the area and arrested three men without incident.

One of the men was armed with a firearm, Zick added.

South Fairview Avenue was shut down for a short time while deputies arrested the trio.

As of noon, the three men – whose names were not yet available – are still being questioned, Zick said, and has not been booked into Santa Barbara County Jail.

Details of the charges they face were not available.

Zick praised the citizen who alerted deputies to the suspect, noting that he remained at a safe distance while transmitting information.
