1,959 New COVID cases, 22 deaths, 65,000 vaccinations – NBC Chicago

Illinois health officials reported 1,959 new confirmed and probable cases of coronavirus and 22 additional deaths in the last day, along with more than 65,000 vaccinations administered.

The newly reported cases of coronavirus have brought the state to 1,304,200 cases since the start of the pandemic. The 22 additional deaths, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health, increased the total death toll to 21,685.

In the past 24 hours, 47,506 coronavirus test specimens were returned to government laboratories, with more than 21.7 million now being carried out during the pandemic.

The positive positivity across the country held steady on Monday, with 4% of all tests achieving positive results. The positivity rate for individuals tested over the past seven days also remained at 4.7%, according to IDPH data.

According to the latest data, the state reported 65,233 vaccinations administered on the last day. The vaccinations administered the seven-day average of vaccines at 125,212 doses.

As of Monday, the state had administered more than 8 million doses of coronavirus vaccine during the pandemic, while receiving 9,930,945 doses.

As of midnight, 2128 patients have been admitted to hospital due to COVID, with the numbers gradually tapping upwards over the past month. Of the patients, 491 are in ICU beds and 227 are currently in ventilators in the state.
