Lauren Graham’s planned multi-episode return to Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist in Season 2 was dramatically cut short.
The Gilmore Girls vet – who appeared in season 1 of NBC’s musical comedy as Jane Levy’s screen boss, Joan, – announced on Twitter late Tuesday that she will be leaving the series after the premiere of season 2. ‘Joan is just a small moment there , ‘Graham said of the start button tonight, before revealing that’ he intends to do more [were] frustrated by pandemic-related scheduling issues. ”

In an interview with TVLine, Zoey’s playlist showrunner Austin Winsberg confirms that Graham’s season 2 involvement ‘was unfortunately just a sad victim of the scheduling’, adding: ‘When Lauren signed to do [Disney+’s] Mighty Ducks [reboot], they were supposed to start shooting in March, and they would be done early so she could be back for Season 2. exactly the same as the shooting program of our program.
“I planned for Joan to be in a few episodes of the show,” he continues, “and unfortunately we just had to turn around because Lauren could not do both at the same time. ”
In the premiere (read our post-mortem) viewers learned that Graham’s Joan had moved to Singapore for work. (Reported by Vlada Gelman)
