Zimbabwe begins 30-day lock-in regulations as infections escalate

The Zimbabwean government plans to begin thirty days of closure regulations following an increase in coronavirus infections during the festive season, Vice President Constatino Chiwenga said late Saturday.

“The gathering is reduced to no more than 30 people during all funerals,” Chiwenga told reporters in the capital Harare. “All other gatherings at weddings, churches, pubs, bottle shops, gyms, restaurants are prohibited for 30 days. Restaurants, bottle shops and pubs are closed for 30 days, except for pubs and restaurants serving hotel residents. ”

Essential services such as hospitals, pharmacies and supermarkets, with only essential staff, may be allowed.
