If you hold it, a Jade Shield is created around it (or your currently playable character) which has also damaged the environment around your Geo damage. miHoYo’s initially announced that the Zhongli buff would have generated a Stone Stele when you made the Jade shield, if there was not one, and would have increased the strength of the shield.
An active Jade Shield will also reduce the elemental and physical RES of enemies for a short time by 20%.
