The first trailer for Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead arrived. On Sunday, Snyder tweeted the poster for the upcoming film, revealing the May 21 release date for the zombie-heist film, but also revealing that the first teaser would also come online. Set the debut on Netflix, Army of the Dead is Snyder’s first post-DC project. The film is about a casino safe-heist during a zombie apocalypse and stars Guardians of the Galaxy star Dave Bautista as the leader of the group. The film also stars Ella Purnell, Ana de la Reguera, Garret Dillahunt, Raul Castillo, Omari Hardwick, Hiroyuki Sanada, Tig Notaro and Matthias Schweighofer.
“It’s a full-fledged zombie-heist movie with a ball-to-the-wall wall, so it’s genre-on-genre in an excellent way,” Snyder said Entertainment weekly. “So you expect pure zombie chaos, and you get it 100 percent. But you also get these amazing characters on a fantastic journey. It’s going to amaze people that there’s a lot of warmth and real emotion with these amazing characters.”
“With Dawn, we made a zombie movie, but tried to do it with all the tropics of the genre,” the director added. “It was so fun, so I started thinking about what other genres the story didn’t have space for. It’s this show where you have fun with the genre, but you do not make fun of the genre – it’s a fine line. “
Recently, Snyder said that the filming Army of the Dead was one of his best filmmakers experiences as it again allowed him to step behind the camera.
“When I made TV commercials, I was the director-cameraman. You know, for twelve years, and almost not every job, but most of the work I shot myself. He continued, “And so, I just felt like it was a great opportunity with the Army to just get really close to the photography and the actors. Honestly, everyone’s like ‘how can you shoot the movie and the movie direct ‘and I I like it’s incredibly easy because the actors are like there and the conversation is easy. The pace is easy because I can work just like that. It’s just really nice. It was really one of the best, most satisfying kind of experience we made a movie in that aspect. ‘
