Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead is a big Vegas heist movie that appears on Netflix – with zombies

Netflix’s next big-budget action movie is almost here: Army of the Dead by director Zack Snyder sees a group of mercenaries fight in Las Vegas to fetch a massive heist. The catch is that it was set up after a zombie apocalypse devastated the city, so instead of the usual Vegas barriers of casino security and bosses, the crew will have to fight through the hordes of savage dead to score trying to get a lifetime.

The first trailer for Army of the Dead does not show off much, but we do know that Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy) will lead the program. Snyder is of course no stranger to especially big action movies and zombie movies, directing the 2004 remake of Dawn of Death (as well as his long list of superhero blockbusters like Man of steel, Guards, en Justice League).

Army of the Deadis, however, a particularly striking film for Snyder, as it is the second original story for the director – and his first in more than a decade since 2011 Suierpons was released.

Netflix also bets a lot on it Army of the Dead launches new franchise for streaming site: in addition to Snyder’s main film, the company also produces Army of the Dead: The Prequel, a German-American co-production directed and starring Matthias Schweighöfer (who will also appear in Snyder’s film). An anime-style TV series is also planned, Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas, who will see several of the characters from the main movie play their roles.

Army of the Dead debuted on May 21 on Netflix.
