While the American coach has been following him since 2019, Musah first appeared twice for the USMNT against Wales and Panama in November last week, impressing both on and off the field.
‘Yunus is an exceptional talent. For his age, it’s impressive what he can do, ”said Gregg Berhalter, head coach of USMNT. ‘When the group first met him, we were immediately attracted to his personality and what a wonderful person he is. When you see him play, you realize that there is a lot of talent too. We are really excited because Yunus is not only a player for today but also a player for the future. ”
Already with two caps to his name, Musah acknowledged the overwhelming support he received from USMNT fans via social media and his excitement to continue the journey on which the team made the Concacaf Nations League Final Four, the Gold Cup and the start of FIFA World Cup qualification in September.
“The American fans were very warm and made me feel sought after and appreciated,” Musah said. ‘It’s exciting with such a young group. It’s nice to compete against so many good players for places. It’s exciting to see what we can do together. I’m sure we’ll be able to do great things. ”
