YouTuber Grace Victory wakes up from 3 months of COVID coma

British YouTuber Grace Victory, who was placed in a medically induced coma on Christmas Day, one day after giving birth to her son, is now awake and can share happy news herself.

“Baby boy thrives at home,” Victory wrote on Twitter earlier this week.

Victory contracted COVID-19 while pregnant and had to give birth to her child, whom she had with boyfriend Lee “LPW” Williams, two months earlier due to respiratory problems.

In a statement shared on Instagram in December, Victory’s family said her condition was ‘currently stable’ and that the baby was doing well. ‘

Victory’s sister Charleigh went to Instagram to ask for prayers.

“I know she had to do it, SHE knows she had to do it, she just needs this time to rest so she comes back stronger and fit,” Charleigh revealed. “She’s got new superpowers because she’s a mom now, her ultimate dream is coming true and her son (who is absolutely amazing) really needs his mom.”

Charleigh added that Lee, a musician, “needs his twin flame.”

If contracted during pregnancy, the coronavirus increases the risk of serious illness in the mother, including taking up ICUs or a ventilator and adverse pregnancy outcomes, including childbirth and stillbirth, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The COVID-19 vaccine is available to expectant mothers.

Former CDC acting director, dr. Richard Besser, who appeared on the 3rd hour of TODAY earlier this month, said pregnant women should weigh their risk for exposure.

“If you’re in a situation where you’re likely to be exposed to COVID, then you should consider vaccination because science suggests it is safe,” Besser explained. “So far, there is nothing about the vaccines that are licensed that raises any red flags.”
