Popular content creator Fitz is accused of using an abuse while playing on the EpicSMP Minecraft server, and has now responded to criticism over his choice of words.
On January 14, Matt Watson – member of the popular SuperMega YouTube channel – announces the launch of the EpicSMP Minecraft server. In addition, he has a stacked range of content creators and internet personalities who has been invited to participate.
One of the content creators that Watson invited to the server was Cameron ‘Fitz’ McKay, a well-known creator of games and comedies. Fitz was one of more than thirty personalities who would take part in the Minecraft screens.
Days later on January 17, Fitz came under fire for his language while streaming on the EpicSMP server. After ‘fitz’ started tweeting on Twitter, he issued several tweets discussing the situation and explaining his position.

Popular creator Fitz came under fire for his use of abusive language on the EpicSMP Minecraft server.
The incident in question occurred while Fitz was streaming his Minecraft content on January 17th. In a clip taken from the stream, Fitz wandered around and then stopped for a moment and asked himself, “What am I actually doing? I’m retarded.”
After a short pause, the YouTuber seemed to realize what he was saying could be offensive and remarked, “Can I say that? Are they going to get mad at me on Twitter?”
Fitz’s comments spread online after the incident took place, and many quickly criticized his choice of words. Users left out their thoughts on how insensitive and rude the language was, and asked Fitz to use offensive words with his audience.

Others seem less surprised and offended by the incident. Several tweets expressed surprise at the overall reaction to the clip, and responses such as “Fitz was canceled for this ???” also flooded Twitter.
After the drama began to unfold, Fitz immediately rebuked those who criticized him, saying (sarcastically) “I hope one day we live in a world where no one can say anything.”
people who look at my content do not realize that I am actually crazy, progressive and loving.
i’m just fucking around and making tryna jokes. you can stay pressed if you want, but I’m probably already on your side.

He follows up by explaining that he only makes jokes when the language in question is used. He closed his mind on the situation by pointing out that “you can keep pushing if you want, but I’m probably already on your side.”
While many of his fans supported Fitz and his layout, others still embraced the language he used. “You can say what you want, but people also have the right not to say what you say,” one user replied.
it speaks for itself. IMO the problem is that there is no acknowledgment of intention or context, and much of the outrage feels short-sighted and too sensitive. people should withdraw from the content they find unattractive instead of attacking it.

Fitz replies, “IMO: the problem is that there is no recognition of intent or context, and much of the outrage feels short-sighted and too sensitive.” He suggested that people who find the language abusive “should disconnect from content they do not find attractive, instead of attacking it.”
This is not the first time Fitz has received criticism from the community for creating content about his language or actions. At the end of 2020, the creator was called out by Pokimane for harassment she received after Fitz joked about the two in a relationship.
It remains to be seen how far the consequences of Fitz’s comments will spread. So far, there has been no word on the creator being removed from the EpicSMP server, or any ban or suspension. We will keep you informed of any developments.
