YouTube suspends Trump’s ability to upload content indefinitely

YouTube said Tuesday that it has removed new content from President Trump’s official channel and will prevent videos from being uploaded for a minimum of a week.

The company, which is owned by Google, said the decision was taken “after review, and in light of concerns about the continuing potential for violence” following a riot for Trump that violated the U.S. Capitol on January 6.

“Given the ongoing concerns about violence, we will also eliminate comments on President Trump’s channel indefinitely, as we have done with other channels where there are security issues in the comments section,” YouTube added.

Authorities in Washington, DC have reported ‘credible threats’ of further violence related to the election of President Joe Biden next week.

YouTube’s decision follows other tech companies such as Twitter and Facebook that permanently or temporarily shut down Trump’s accounts after Wednesday’s riots.
