Microsoft will soon be uploading even larger files to OneDrive, Teams and SharePoint, increasing the limit from 100 GB to 250 GB. The larger file size limit can be good news for people working from home due to the COVID-19 pandemic and large projects like 4K and 8K video, CAD files or scientific data sets to upload to the cloud so that with they can be shared colleagues and customers. According to Microsoft, the change will also be transferred to OneDrive for personal use, which can make it easier for you to upload large photo or video collections.
Microsoft says the 250 GB file size for file uploads will start at the end of January. The company expects the new limit to be widely available by the end of this quarter.
This is Microsoft’s second recent increase in file uploads – the company increased it from 15 GB to 100 GB last year.
