Don’t go shopping for the $ 969-based OnePlus 9 Pro now – you probably won’t get it. Android Police note that OnePlus still does not sell the ‘entry’ version with 8 GB RAM and 128 GB storage, despite the launch date on 2 April. Third parties like Amazon, Best Buy, B&H and T-Mobile also do not offer the cheaper option. If you want a 9 Pro on time, you’ll have to shell out the $ 1,069 12GB / 256GB variant – not a huge premium, but probably more than you wanted to pay.
A representative said OnePlus still intends to sell the base model but does not offer a time frame. It was also not clear why OnePlus postponed the release, although the higher version was readily available.
This is not entirely surprising. Disk shortages are all too common, and stopping sales for one model could help OnePlus keep supply in line with demand. If so, you can wait a while. You can consider the regular OnePlus 9 if you are willing to make some compromises in the name of a lower price and short-term satisfaction.
