through his profile photo. Much like how Twitch Plays Pokémon lets the world comment and control a game Pokémon, Liétard se pinned tweet asks people to comment on Up, Down, Left, Right, A, B, Start or Select to control a fake Pokémon Red game.
According to Liétard, comments are made every 15 seconds and most comments are sent to the game. The current game status is then automatically created in Liétard’s 400×400 Twitter profile photo.
As of this writing, Liétard’s level 6 Spearow is struggling with an odd level 11. Unfortunately, Spearow is currently losing, so hopefully Twitter can find a way to work together to save the bird Pokémon. Oh, and if you were curious, Twitter somehow chose Squirtle as the starting Pokémon.
Liétard has restarted the game several times to add more features as it increases in popularity, and Liétard logs in manually every night to save the game and ensure that progress is not lost. There is also a official Discord server it allows interested parties to chat about the progress made in this particular Pokémon Red game. There have been over 30,000 comments so far, and it will be very interesting to see how much it takes to triumph over the Elite Four.
