Changing the profile photo associated with your Google Account has never been more difficult, but it’s even easier now. A change to the latest version of Google Contacts makes the process a two-tap affair, accessible quickly and easily within the app.
Tap your profile photo in Google Contacts, tap it again with the camera icon and you will be taken directly to the Google account setting for it.
The new feature is simple. In the latest version of the Google Contacts app (v3.38), tap on your profile photo to access the account switch. There you should see a new camera icon at the top of your profile photo for the current account. Tap it, and you’ll be taken directly to the Google Account page to edit, or even delete, your profile photo.
I suspect this change will also affect other Google programs. Since last summer, Google’s documentation for changing the Gmail profile photo changed to the same process, although the feature is not actually still present in the app.
The change was first noticed by our friends at XDA Developers and has already been tested in Google Contacts v3.31 and September last year. But we can verify that it seems to be widely available in the latest version. The update will now be available in the Play Store, but you can download it early on our sister site APK Mirror.
