Yoko Taro and Yosuke Saito are working on two new games

Yoko Taro has revealed that he is working on two new games, one of which is described as incredibly upsetting for Yosuke Saito and Square Enix.

Yoko Taro has announced that he is working with Square Enix producer Yosuke Saito on two new games, as the Japanese blog Game’s Talk points out with several Japanese Twitter users.

V Jump and Famitsu are currently holding a special chat program stream for the end of the year ‘Game Industry 2020’ at Niconico. With several developers appearing. In particular, Square Enix ‘Yosuke Saito, Yoko Taro, Bandai Namco’s Katsuhiro Harada and Hiroshi Matsuyama of CyberConnect2.

Here is a summary of the discussion of Yoko Taro and his new games.

Starting with the 2:23:00 point on stream, Yosuke Saito explained that Yoko Taro and him regularly chat about what to do next after NieR Automata. Yoko Taro also had an idea what he really wanted to do, but Yosuke Saito was against it. At one point, Yoko Taro explained his project to Yosuke Saito for an hour, which is extraordinarily long to present a project, and then they went to drink wine and eat yakiniku together so that Yosuke Saito accepted it. However, Yosuke Saito regrets it and wishes he could just let Yoko Taro do the match himself. Yoko Taro said the game is really upsetting.

Yosuke Saito and Yoko Taro explained that this happened about a year ago, but that the project did not progress much. And Yosuke Saito still wishes he could just stop doing hell now.

Since both initially only talked about a project rather than a game, they also said that it was a game project. They are not even sure what kind of genre the game will be. Viewers joked about the conversation about how it could be an Otome game. Yosuke Saito denied it, but Yoko taro said it could just as well turn into one.

Subsequently, Yoko Taro and Yosuke Saito said there is another game they are working on. That one is something they both wanted to do together. On top of that, they only booked the second game ‘long before’, as mentioned above.

It’s all about the new games from Yoko Taro.

The stream only ended after four hours and 24 minutes. Only the first two hours or so were free, and only users of the Niconico premium accounts could see the full stream. We may have a summary at some point if time allows.

Yosuke Saito mentions in his Famitsu message at the end of the year that he is working on a new game. This is probably the second game he has mentioned on stream.
