Yankees set MLB record with Blue Jays

If you’re looking for a silver lining in the New York Yankees’ 7-3 defeat Tuesday to the Toronto Blue Jays, give it a try: Yankees pitchers beat nine Blue Jays batsmen.

That gives the Yankees yard staff 130 heats during the season, setting a new MLB record for most female teammates through the first 11 games of the season.

Both the Yankees and the Cincinnati Reds of 2018 recorded 129 results through 11 games.

The starter Jameson Taillon hit three in 3.2 overs of work. Lucas Luetge follows with three K’s in 1.1 overs. Luis Cessa picked up a few casualties in two innings of the job. Albert Abreu struck once in his one innings of work.

Ace Gerrit Cole, who had eight strikeouts in Monday’s 3-1 victory, was the leader in the Yankees division. According to Yankees PR, Cole “recorded at least seven casualties in each of his last twelve starting games in the regular season (since 8/8/20 match 1), the longest stretch of a Yankees pitcher in franchise history.” According to the Yankees, the previous record was seven games, played five times, “recently by Nathan Eovaldi of 8/19 / 15-4 / 20/16.”

Cole is tied with Treva Bauer of the Los Angeles Dodgers and Tyler Glasnow, Tampa Bay Rays, for second place in the majors, with 29 results this season. Cleveland Indians’ bait Shane Bieber, the reigning U.S. league winner of the Cy Young Award, leads the majors with 35 strikeouts. Bieber collected 11 passes on Tuesday in the Indians’ 2-0 victory over Chicago White Sox.
