xQc finds a great way to win a lawsuit on OfflineTV Rust server

Twitch streamer Asmongold slammed Twitch’s audiences for ‘metagaming’ (ie by using chat to inform streamers of other players’ locations) on Rust, claiming it ruined the OfflineTV server experience.

The Rust server of OfflineTV has not been exactly free of controversy since its release. Fifty of Twitch’s biggest streamers, including xQc, shroud, and Valkyrae, struggled to control the survival multiplayer map, which had an unintended focus on PvP.

The center of attention was xQc. He is often accused of having players snip sniping to gain benefits, and former Former OfflineTV member Edison Park. Park admits he used ‘outside information’ to loot the xQc team. who condemned xQc on Twitter.

But the use of streams to gather information does not necessarily have to be done by the players themselves. Some fans were able to communicate information about streams through Twitch chat, a practice about which Asmongold is not happy.

Asmongold on Rust ‘metagaming’

On January 2, Asmongold was not happy with the tendency for fans to play along with streamers. He described it as ‘annoying’ and ‘losing behavior’, and encouraged fans to quit.

‘You guys are grim about this f *** ing metagaming s ** t. “Stop doing it, it’s so annoying, and it’s just loser behavior,” he said. “It does not make it fun at all, because people just tell each other where they are.”

‘If I’m going to see someone, I’m going to see them. If I’m not going to see them, I’m not going to see them. It’s just creepy metagaming that makes it less fun for everyone.

‘It’s so annoying, it’s so unpleasant, it’s so creepy, and nobody wants it. Just stop. “

It remains to be seen whether Asmongold’s eruption will lead to a reduction in Rust metagaming, but it’s probably not worth holding your breath.

With a new role-playing OfflineTV server released on January 7, it will be interesting to see if moving away from a PvP focus will lead to less metagaming. With streamers less likely to be led into a trap and killed, metagaming can naturally disappear.
