Xiaomi’s submarket Redmi will announce a flagship smartphone next month without the price matching.
Redmi CEO Wang Teng Thomas has revealed that the next device, the Redmi K40, is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888. The Weibo message also says that the phone has a 4000 mAh battery and the “most expensive straight screen”, something that is open to interpretation, but implies that the handset will also have impressive display specifications.
According to previous rumors, the K40 offers a high refresh rate, probably 120Hz, just like its predecessor.
Other than that, rumors point to 33W fast charger, a punch hole cutout for the front shooter, a four-camera array at the rear and a 3.5mm audio jack.
Now comes the best part. Thomas says the phone will cost 2999 Chinese Yuan, which is about $ 464. Of course, it may cost a little more in countries outside China, but even then it is one of the cheapest Android flagships of 2021. By comparison, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S21 is expected to cost around $ 899 with the same chip.
That said, keep in mind that the K40 will be more than an inexpensive flagship and that it can save certain premium features like LPDDR5 RAM and OLED panel.
