Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra leak with 120x zoom, rear screen, more

Although rumored and teased, the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra hasn’t actually launched yet, but a hands-on video leak has given us a glimpse of what it would look like to be a completely insane Android-powered smartphone.

A practical video appears briefly courtesy of a Filipino YouTuber who is going to be by Tech Buff PH before being pulled. However, as is often the case, the internet never forgets when the cat is out of the bag. The video has since been re-uploaded, allowing us to watch this genuine smartphone for the first time.

With many smartphones using 10x and even 100x zoom features for periscope zoom lenses and digital cutting, it looks like the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra will pack a camera that can zoom 120x. This is actually not new on Xiaomi hardware, because even insane Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra also boosts the enhanced zoom features.

However, the massive rear camera bump contains more than just cameras. However, the triple camera setup looks nice with a 50-megapixel primary sensor, a 48-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera and a 48-megapixel periscope zoom lens. If it’s similar to the larger camera panel made famous by the amazing Cyberpunk 2077 OnePlus 8T, and, well, Xiaomi has incorporated things with a really small secondary screen into this large camera housing.

Now, the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra is not the first to have a secondary screen, as we even checked out a notable effort from Nubia in the form of the Z20. Unlike the Z20, the Mi 11 Ultra has a much smaller usable secondary screen. This can be useful to set up, and it’s not really clear how it’s even going to work in practice – it’s likely to show the full MIUI 12.5 interface. We can only assume that it is a fully working screen, but in this small form factor.

Other notable specifications of the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra include a 6.8-inch QHD + AMOLED panel with 120Hz adjustable refresh rate, Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset, 5,000 mAh battery with 67W wired charging and 10W wireless reverse charging. You can watch the full video of Tech Buff PH, presented below, but it is noteworthy that the entire video is in Filipino (via XDA):
