Xbox will reportedly hold an event related to Bethesda next month

Microsoft announced last year that ZeniMax Media and its subsidiary Bethesda Softworks would be acquired by the corporation and folded into the Xbox Game Studios series in 2021. Aside from the general announcement of the acquisition, however, the Xbox team did not talk much about what this step would mean to move forward for all parties. That said, it sounds like this silence is going to end soon.

According to Xbox Games, Jeff Grubb, in the latest podcast from GamesBeat Decides, Xbox is planning to hold an event related to Bethesda soon. Grubb says it will be one of the opportunities for the Xbox show if it leads to E3 2021. “Once the agreement is reached, they will talk about it to a large extent. I do not know if it will be a complete direct-style event, but they will take note of it and they will talk extensively about it and explain what it means to everyone, ‘Grubb explained. “Expect it to happen sometime in mid-March.”

The reason Xbox has not yet held a presentation like this is that, as Grubb mentioned, the deal to acquire Bethesda has not yet been formally made. The announcement of the intention to acquire the publisher was made last year, but the deal does not close for a few weeks yet. As such, Microsoft had to remain somewhat silent about what it intends to do with Bethesda and its studios, otherwise it would violate the law.

While we still do not know what exactly Xbox wants to do with Bethesda, one of the biggest questions asked by many fans was how exclusive it works. Previously announced games such as Starfield and The Elder Scrolls 6 which would presumably come to all platforms in the future (including PlayStation), could now only be connected to Xbox and PC. The Xbox team did not provide any details on how it will handle exclusive, except that each game will be handled on a case-by-case basis. This upcoming event may shed more light on the situation for the future.

Clearly, if we were to hear anything from this showcase, it would be relatively soon. As such, we will assure you here on ComicBook.com when officially announced.
