Xbox Live back online after major outage

Xbox Live’s online console gaming platform experienced a major disruption on Thursday afternoon, with players worldwide take to Twitter to report login issues.

But later in the day, the problems seem to have been solved. Around 18:30 PT, the Xbox Support Team Tweeted that users should again be able to log in, complete purchases, and join chat sessions. On Friday morning, the Xbox status page listed all online features as running.

The break appears to have started on Thursday shortly after noon PT. “We are aware that users may not be able to sign in to Xbox Live at this time,” said the company’s support account tweeted Thursday afternoon. “Our teams are currently investigating to resolve this issue.”

Users can also having trouble purchasing content and party chat also, Xbox Support tweeted later Thursday.

This is not the first Xbox break in recent memory – the platform hit a tough patch in 2020 several interruptions while gamers on the entertainment platform amidst the pandemic.
