News

Microsoft has been pretty much trying to win the heart of the Japanese audience for the past few years, and this week they tried something new to advertise Xbox Game Pass.

The Japanese arm of Xbox has teamed up with popular virtual YouTubers Shishiro Botan and Himemori Luna to advertise the service, with the benefits and features of Game Pass (including the recent acquisition of Bethesda) and the gameplay of Gears 5, Control, Microsoft Flight Simulator in Forza. Horizon 4.

Shishiro Botan is part of the popular Hololive vTuber agency. She belongs to the 5th generation and is a relative rookie. After debuting in August 2020, she quickly gained popularity and currently has more than 700,000 subscribers on her channel.

The stream has been viewed 106,845 times, and the audience seems to enjoy it, with over 10,000 likes at just 52 dislikes.

Himemori Luna is from the fourth generation of Hololive, which debuted in January 2020. She has more than 500,000 subscribers and her stream has been watched by 108,769 people, currently with more than 11,000 likes and only 46 not.

Following the waifu route is definitely not a bad idea to address Japanese players. We must not forget that the Xbox One used to be a very popular platform among visual novel developers. On top of that, Shishiro Botan’s looks and style somehow feels appropriate for Xbox.

You can see the entire live stream below and see if you like it. It will be interesting to see if this will continue.
