Xbox Game Pass’s February Participants and Leavers include Dirt 5, Oxenfree

Microsoft has announced which games Xbox Game Pass will join and leave in February. It’s a decent selection, including the still-smelling new race game Dirt 5, the battered old heaps of Wreckfest and the exact kind of Game Pass that is the best, the anime soulful Code Vein.

Dirt 5 joins Microsoft’s game subscription service on February 25th. It’s only a few months old and was released in November 2020, which means it’s newer than many of the big games that appear on the platform. It’s new enough that I’m wondering if some people who bought it might be a little hurt now, because they know they can play it for a monthly subscription.

Wreckfest is an older game that ended its long early access journey in 2018, but it’s still updated and it’s still a lot of fun. It is a racing game focused on beautiful collisions, in which both tracks and cars are deformed in the course of a race. It enters service on February 18.

Code Vein, meanwhile, feels to me like the perfect Game Pass game, and also arrives on February 18th. Matt kept it in his review despite himself, but it feels like it was thoroughly rated in 7/10. The kind of game you like, if you like a close-knit third-party melee with endurance, but may not like the kind of must-play you had when it came out.

As always, a handful of games leave the service, including our beloved Oxenfree, but here’s the full list of whats to come:
