The latest insect leak claims that Microsoft is pursuing the acquisition of Techland and with it exclusivity for Dying Light 2.
Over the past year, Microsoft has made its biggest game-related acquisition yet by picking up ZeniMax Media and its subsidiaries like Bethesda. It was just the latest in a series of high-profile studio acquisitions to bolster the Xbox Series X’s future game series. Although the ZeniMax transaction has been finalized, Microsoft has made it clear that it will continue to pursue aggressive future acquisitions. And a new leak could reveal that Microsoft’s next target is the Techland team in Poland.
As many know, rumors about Microsoft’s attempt to acquire a studio from Poland surfaced at the end of 2019. However, no acquisitions or specific studios were mentioned. Now the rumor has returned with a clear focus.
YouTuber Jeremy ‘ACG’ Penter claims on the Defining Duke podcast that Microsoft wants to buy an exclusive video game in 2021. In the process, Microsoft will also acquire the developer / publisher. ACG, however, says Techland is not specific.
The additional details come in place of a second person going through Shpeshal Ed on Twitter. Shpeshal Ed says that after “digging around”, they found out that ACG is talking about Techland. The video game to which ACG refers is also said Dying light 2. Shpeshal Ed does not state this assertion with certainty, it must be made clear.

In summary, rumor has it that Microsoft is in the process of acquiring Techland and perhaps a console exclusivity deal or has already entered into an agreement for Dying light 2 in the process. The leaks do not make it clear whether Microsoft is still pursuing an agreement or whether an agreement has already been entered into. Finally, these leaks provide no sources or compelling evidence of their leaks. ACG’s predictions have a mixed record, but Shpeshal Ed has made several accurate leaks in the past.
Perhaps not coincidentally, there are other rumors that could be linked to this acquisition, if accurate. In January, for example, Techland mentioned it Dying light 2 news will come soon. Another rumor says that an Xbox event that has not yet been announced will take place in mid-February.
Preliminary Xbox and Dying light fans are best at maintaining a healthy degree of skepticism. It’s likely that Microsoft will make further acquisitions, but not every rumor or alleged leak will be accurate. As Dying light 2 news coming soon, fans will know the truth about a Techland acquisition in a few weeks or months.
