‘Written threat’ calls for large police presence at BMI airport; Threat not considered credible – CBS Baltimore

LINTHICUM, Md. (WJZ) – A written threat has caused a large police presence at Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, officials said.

Southwest Airlines Flight 2104 from Phoenix to Baltimore landed at BMI around 5:15 p.m. At the time, law enforcement was investigating what an airport spokesman called a “suspicious message.”

Specific details about the threat were not immediately available.

The airport had 101 passengers and crew on board.

“Out of an abundance of caution, the plane was parked in a remote area of ​​the airport,” the airport said in a statement on Twitter. “Passengers were safely unloaded from the plane to shuttle buses and brought to the airport terminal.”

Officials later viewed the threat as not credible.

“Our crew followed the protocol by notifying the relevant authorities and moving the aircraft to a remote location while we wait for further instructions. The authorities immediately arrived and boarded the plane and transferred the 97 passengers and six crew members to buses to be transferred to the terminals, ” a South West spokesperson said.

No injuries were reported.
