WWE Title Match: Drew McIntyre vs. Bobby Lashley
We go to the ring and first Drew McIntyre comes out with his sword. Drew gets a big pyro blast on stage before going to the ring. Fans cheered Drew as he hit the ring and more fireworks went off above the stadium. The lightning strikes the screens when The Hurt Business comes out next – WWE champion Bobby Lashley with MVP. Drew stares at Lashley as he pulls up to the ring. We get formal introductions from Mike Rome.
The bell rings and it closes at 20:45. They go in the ropes and keep it locked. We get a deadlock if they break. They lock up again and Lashley goes behind. Drew breaks it and applies a head clamp. They walk the ropes and Lashley drops Drew with a shoulder, but he gets up again. They go for a test of strength, but Drew takes control. They walk the ropes again and Drew nails a big overhead throw. Drew mocks Lashley and they now have words.
Lashley has to pull in the face. Drew rocks him and they start strikes. Lashley knocks Drew into the corner while MVP cheers him on. Drew turns it around in the corner and kicks away. Lashley fights free and strikes Drew down the ropes. Pull Lashley washcloths over the top rope to the floor. Drew follows, but Lashley sends him first into the barrier. Lashley goes ahead and throws Drew back into the barrier while the referee counts. Lashley takes control and drives Drew into another part of the barrier. Drap limp as Lashley breaks the score. Lashley brings it back and hits a push in the corner, then a neck breaker for 2.
Lashley mounts Drew with his right hand. Lashley flips Drew over and then puts a cat bowl down his throat on the bottom rope. Drew gets up with big chops to his chest. Lashley pushes him into the corner. Lashley complains, but hits the ring post shoulder-first as Drew moves. Drew drops Lashley to his arm and puts an armrest on the mat. Lashley fights against it and unloads with his right hand to break the hold.
Lashley with more strokes and now pushes into the corner. Lashley stood for a long time with his arms in the air for a mixed reaction. Drew is hit in the corner, but he comes out with a large washing line and more offense. Drew a duck a washing line and started Lashley with an overhead throw and a second throw. MVP now looks worried. Pull with a neck breaker and they are now both flat on their backs. Drew kicks up for a doll. Fans cheer on Drew as he stalks Lashley. Drew goes for the Futureshock DDT, but Lashley pushes him into the corner again. Lashley charges, but walks in an elbow. Pull with another large top suplex for a score of 2.
Drew goes to the arm again, but Lashley drops off with strikes to get free. Lashley levels Drew with a large washing line. Lashley lifts Drew and strikes him face-first for a close score. MVP shouts for Lashley to complete Drew. They knock and Lashley lifts Drew and then drives him into the mat for another close score. Lashley goes for The Hurt Lock, but Drew resists. Lashley now with her knees to her intestines. Lashley creates Drew on his shoulders, but Drew becomes free. They are now fighting from the corner. Pull with big elbow attacks in the corner. Drawing with the reverse Alabama Slam, Lashley slaps on his face for another close score.
McIntyre now takes Lashley upstairs and punches him in the chest. Drew climbs up and works Lashley over. Drew goes for the superplex, but Lashley resists and both go on the top turn-turn and sit up straight. Lashley rock Drew. Drew applies a Kimura-like submission to upper-speed Lashley fights freely and knocks Drew upside down in a tree of woe. Drew points and sets Lashley on the mat. Drew now stands up for a big doll. Drew complains about a Claymore Kick, but Lashley catches him with a big chokeslam for a doll. Drew kicks up and Lashley can’t believe it.
They are now starting to fight with major strikes. Draw with another large belly-to-belly suplex. Drew nails the Futureshock DDT, and a second Futureshock. Drew keeps it locked and hits a third Futureshock in the middle of the ring. Lashley still kicks out at 2 and Drew can’t believe it. Drew sat down on his knees while Lashley slowly got up.
Drew complains to a Claymore, but Lashley falls on the mat and MVP helps him to the floor to safety. Drew walks the ropes and jumps out and takes MVP and Lashley down to the floor. The referee counts and Drew brings Lashley back to the 4-point mark. Drew goes to the top and comes down, but Lashley catches him. Lashley tries The Hurt Lock, but Drew resists. Lashley launches Drew and only then drops him into the mat. Lashley yells at Drew to get up now. Drew fights The Hurt Lock, but they end up in the corner. Drew complains, but Lashley goes for another big Spinebuster. It’s somewhat blocked because Drew takes them down for another attempt by Kimura. Drew pulls it to the mat while referee investigates Lashley. Lashley breaks it by getting the bottom rope.
Drew sits up first and nods his head to get back into it. Lashley also gets up slowly. They get up and trade in the middle of the ring. Lashley sends Drew into the top turn for the first time, while Drew delivers an elbow strike. Lashley hits a kick. Pull with a Glasgow Kiss headbutt in the corner. Drew complains to a Claymore, but MVP briefly leads him with a scream from the ring. Lashley takes advantage and regains control. Drew struggles, but Lashley gets The Hurt Lock applied now. Drew begins to fade.
Lashley holds the hold while Drew fades to one knee. The referee checks him. Drew starts rallying for a doll. Drew breaks it with the turn knobs, but Lashley comes back with the hold. Drew faded to his knees, then to the carpet. The referee calls the game to retain Lashley.
