The Buckeyes have bet no. 11 named wide receiver for their 2022 recruiting class Kyion Grayes of Chandler (Ariz.) has announced that he is on his way to the state of Ohio. Grayes, who offered the Buckeyes a scholarship on Oct. 20, has been connected in Arizona since Aug. 11. But Ohio State’s offer caught Grayes’ attention and he decided to break free from the Wildcats in early December. A little over two months later, Grayes committed himself to the Buckeyes’ head coach Ryan Day and broad receiving coach Brian Hartline.
“It’s just the neighborhood,” Grayes told Bucknuts when asked why he chose Ohio State. “I feel welcome. I’m at home with these coaches, the players and my commitments. I can not thank all the people enough. It makes me feel like I’m at home with them. I’m very excited. I can not wait. ”
Grayes selects the state of Ohio over a list of listings that includes USC, Penn State, Oregon, Arizona, Michigan, Miami and others. Grayes spent the weekend with his parents in the state of Ohio for the first time.
“Actually just the place,” Grayes said of the deciding factor in choosing the state of Ohio. ‘To come to the state of Ohio and see it for yourself. My relationship with coach Hart is very strong. Ever since he gave me the offer, I felt like I knew where I wanted to be. ”
Day also played a big role in the selection of the Buckeyes.
“Coach Day is just a phenomenal head coach,” Grayes said. ‘He and I talk and have long conversations like our best friends. It’s just crazy to think he has time to do it. It’s just a wonderful feeling. ”
The 6-foot-1 and 170-pound Grayes are a 4-star prospect in the 247Sports rankings. He is the country’s overall prospect 108, the broad receiver 14 and the prospect no. 2 in Arizona.
Grayes, who plays for one of the leading football programs in the state of Arizona, has excellent speed and speed, a tremendous outburst and is a threat to the home.
The Buckeyes are likely to sign three Classes 2022 receivers and now have two major ashes Caleb Burton of Texas had previously committed himself to the state of Ohio. Hartline signed a spectacular group of four 2020 recipients, signing three of the country’s best in the 2021 class, including the country’s no. 1 wide receiver in Emeka Egbuka, and now has two very talented people from the 2022 class.
Hartline and Day have been talking to Grayes for more than four months, as well as other staff members in the state of Ohio. A number of the other commitments in Ohio in 2022 also recruited Grayes.
“Really Dasan (McCullough) played a big role,” Grayes said. ‘Bennett (Christian) played a big role. CJ (Hicks) came up. We talk daily. Jyaire (Brown), we all talk daily. I’m glad to be with those guys. ”
Grayes got 28 passes for 562 yards and 10 touchdowns when Chandler was undefeated and won the state championship this season. In 13 games during his second season, Grayes scored 48 passes for 883 yards and six touchdowns. He is also an excellent student with a 3.6 GPA.
Grayes looked ahead when he arrived in Columbus and began his career in the state of Ohio.
“Really, I just want to be able to get on the field,” Grayes said. “That’s the only thing I want to do. I’m going to take it one year at a time, one day at a time. I’m just going to work and be the best version of me I can be. ”

The Buckeyes have a great start to their 2022 yard class. They have commitments from the country’s overall outlook for the fifth quarter Quinn Ewers from Texas, 5 star corner star Jaheim Singletary of Florida, another 5-star in wide receiver Burton, the prospect no. 1 in Ohio and the country’s no. Gabe Powers, the No. 1 prospect in the state of Indiana in lineout player McCullough, the no. 2-prospect in Ohio in lineout player Hicks, the number 3 prospect in Ohio in cornerback Brown, the no. 6 Buckeyes State prospect in offensive line Tegra Tshabola, two 4-star finals in Christian of Georgia and Benji Gosnell of North Carolina, and now Grayes. It’s a class of 11 early commitments, with all 11 prospects of 5 or 4 stars. This is a class that ranks in the 247Sports Composite Team Recruitment Rankings as the no. 1 in the country.
