World Of Warcraft’s first player-selected player is a huge tree that you can get for free

Last year Blizzard held a poll to determine what kind of ride World of Warcraft players sought as a special community mountain. We chose the Wandering Ancient, and now the choice has borne fruit, or in this case a whole damn tree, which is now free for all who have the Shadowlands expansion.

The Wandering Ancient is a wise old tree that has been slowly exploding in various Azeroth countries since the launch of the game. It’s an iconic animal, which is why it has outperformed competitors such as a slimy cat and a colorful caterpillar in last year’s fans. Now the bark-covered animal is in the game, available for free on the mountain tab of everyone who owns Shadowlands, as well as anyone purchasing the expansion in the future.

The coolest thing about the Wandering Ancient, apart from its enormous size, is that the leaves change colors with the seasons, giving players a reason to break it all year round. Unfortunately, it does not fly, but it makes sense. If trees could fly, there would be nothing on the ground.

However, my favorite feature of the Wandering Ancient is the caterpillars that ride behind my player character, a nod to the community mountain that was possible.

It’s nice to have a handy snack on hand as you drive over to the afterlife.
